Acquisition Section: Acquisition Section of the Library deals with the purchase of reference books, textbooks serial publications, and multi-volume books. The section also deals with day-to-day operations such as receiving indents for the purchase of books, checking duplicates, placing orders, and receiving and entering the books with serial numbers in the accession register as well as in the software of the Library.
Technical Processing Section: Technical services are the “behind the scene” activities that a library undertakes to effectively deliver library services to the users. These services include the processes and procedures which are necessary to order library materials, like classifying, assigning subject headings, data entry, checking, and physical processing, to get the materials ready to put on library shelves. These services also include the activities that are necessary to control the lending and return of library materials. Library follows the Dewey Decimal Classification scheme for classification.
Periodicals Section: Periodical section handles print as well as electronic journal databases. processes journal subscriptions, renewals, orders, and payments every year and regulates the shelf arrangement of the current journals, displaying recent arrivals.
Circulation Section: This is the front end of library operations providing lending services to library users. All the books are generally issued for 15 days. Library Users are provided with a Library Card. Borrowers must satisfy them with the physical condition of the book before borrowing. Periodicals/bound journals are not issued at all. These are to be consulted within the library premises only. The library can recall any issued book even before the due date. Penalties for books lost, damaged, mutilated, or defaced by marking shall be fixed.
IT and Computer Section: This is the hub that monitors all the computerized activities of the library i.e., the back-end of automation activities in the library. The library Server is connected to the Campus-wide Local Area Network. The section is entrusted with the responsibility of maintenance of all the systems, Internet, training the users, etc. All the staff members are trained to handle the Library software, Internet and CD-based resources, etc. This section also handles various activities like OPAC service, online resources search service, etc.
Administration Section: This section monitors the overall expenditure incurred in the Library including settlement of bills, advances, etc. Purchase of equipment and other materials needed for library operation, maintenance of stock, stock verification, assets, and consumable materials. Selection of candidates for the Apprenticeship Training Scheme run by the Board of Apprenticeship Training, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India.
